Job description

About the Position Come join our team. The City of Saint Paul Department of Public Works is hiring an Administration Manager. This is an opportunity to provide leadership and direction for work that directly impacts residents while supporting the delivery of essential services.

This role is responsible for strategic planning and departmental oversight, guiding the implementation and evaluation of operations. The Administration Manager directs the development and alignment of financial and budget strategies and oversees Technology Services. Primary Responsibilities: Performs expert-level professional and managerial work in planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating the activities of the Public Works department.

Oversees Technology Services, ensuring effective and reliable support of departmental operations. Establishes, develops, and evaluates departmental finance and budget strategies, including restructuring and realigning funding sources and uses. Assists the Director in developing departmental budget and finance plans.

Coordinates projects with other jurisdictions, other departments and organizations. Represents the department before the City Council, the State Legislature, state and federal organizations, and various other groups and agencies. Position Requirements A Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field and ten (10) years of increasingly-responsible management and administration work; at least three (3) of these years must be in a managerial capacity, and must have managed effectively in a union environment.

Final Selection Process: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire.

You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method. Pre-Employment Screening: This position requires a credit check and a background check which may include criminal history, and employment history as a condition of employment. Candidates will be required to submit proof of education to Human Resources upon conditional job offer, if qualifying based on education.
