Job description

About The Orchard

The Orchard is a leading global music distributor and Artist & Label services company operating in 50+ markets worldwide. The Orchard empowers creators and businesses to grow and adapt in the dynamic global music industry. We specialize in being artist focused, blending industry expertise and technology, leveraging data to drive success, and providing streamlined digital and physical distribution solutions. The Orchard's comprehensive artist & label services offerings include marketing, sync licensing, premium video services, transparent data analysis, advertising, rights management, radio promotion, D2C, and more.

The Orchard focuses on providing a comfortable, social, and engaging environment to encourage productivity and creativity.

As the Manager of Physical Commerce, you are the central hub for the North American physical supply chain. Reporting to the VP of Physical Commerce, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of the physical business, ensuring that every release, price change, and inventory move is executed with precision. This role is a "hands-on" operational lead, mastering backend systems and administrative workflows that allow our retail strategy to scale. You are the connective tissue between the label's vision and the physical storefront.

What you'll do
  • Systems & Deal Execution - Own the end-to-end technical setup for all new releases, restocks, and promotional deals.
  • Supply Chain Coordination - Work within various Supply Chain Systems to help direct inventory to the correct warehouses, review weekly shipments, and ensure product availability aligns with street dates, Record Store Day demand, and consumption spikes. You will liaise with the D2C & International teams to ensure inventory is correctly allocated and synchronized within each supply chain. Communicate daily with the Supply Chain Operations and Customer Service teams at Sony to ensure metadata updates (such as street and embargo dates) and order adjustments are executed accurately.
  • Retail & Account Support - Serve as a versatile operational lead across both physical and digital formats, ensuring releases are pitched properly and managing priorities. You will also bridge the gap to the wider digital team by assembling DSP Recap Decks and coordinating for assets like focus tracks. Additionally, you will provide critical support to the Indie Account Lead, assisting with Record Store Day operations and the logistical coordination of in-store events.
  • Commercial Communication - Act as the primary sender for official customer notifications, including price changes, distribution updates, recalls, and deletion letters. You will also manage the Physical New Release Site and send weekly blasts to accounts, ensuring that the entire retail chain-and internal stakeholders-are operating with the most current information.
  • Data & Reporting - Own the distribution of the weekly New Release Report and New Release Grid. You will handle all administrative maintenance including merge requests and database updates to maintain the backbone of the department's reporting.
Who you are
  • At least 3+ years of experience in music industry operations, physical distribution, or retail administration.
  • System-oriented with a high aptitude for navigating and mastering complex backend databases.
  • Knowledge of music streaming platforms and the physical retail landscape, ranging from the Independent sector to Mass Retailers and major One-Stops (e.g., Alliance Entertainment, All Media Supply).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines, prioritize & motivate partners.
  • An independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a keen understanding of business dynamics, thriving in high-pressure settings.
  • A strong passion for music, physical media and the music industry.
What We Give You
  • An opportunity to influence music on a global stage.
  • A modern, diverse and creative work environment.
  • An investment in your learning & development.
  • A comprehensive and attractive benefits package including healthcare coverage, life insurance, generous leave policies, 401K + employer matching, Winter recess, voluntary benefits, industry-leading mental health and fertility coverage, family resources and education financial assistance.ย
