Wedge jobs typically refer to positions that involve operating or working with wedge equipment, which is commonly used in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas. A 'wedge' can be a mechanical device used to split, lift, or secure objects by applying force. Workers in these roles may be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and safely operating wedge tools or machinery. The specific duties can vary widely depending on the industry and the type of wedge equipment being used. Safety training and technical knowledge are often important requirements for these jobs.

Job description

Support Team Member

Feather & Wedge | Rockport, Massachusetts
Front of House | Part-Time / Full-Time Opportunities

Built on Heritage. Crafted with Care. Served with Heart.

A mainstay on Main Street in Rockport, Feather & Wedge serves the freshest flavors of Cape Ann’s land and sea. We are rooted in the history of our community and believe a great restaurant is about more than what arrives on the plate—it’s about making people feel genuinely cared for.

Our name comes from the feather and wedge, the tools once used to split Rockport granite. Today, our tools have changed, but the idea behind them hasn’t: care, skill, teamwork and attention to detail matter.

The Position

We’re looking for Support Team Members to join our front-of-house team.

This is our entry-level hospitality position, but there is nothing minor about it. Our Support Team is the backbone of a great service. They help set the pace of the dining room, anticipate what guests and teammates need, and make sure the details that create a seamless experience happen all night long.

Support Team Members are cross-trained across four essential roles: hosting, food running, bussing and barbacking. Rather than being hired for just one position, you’ll learn how the entire restaurant works and how each part of the team supports the others.

No extensive restaurant experience is required. We’re more interested in finding people who naturally enjoy taking care of others, work well as part of a team, and are excited to learn.

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome guests warmly and assist with hosting, seating and the flow of the dining room
  • Run food from the kitchen and learn our dishes, ingredients and standards of presentation
  • Clear, reset and maintain tables throughout service
  • Anticipate guest needs and support servers in providing attentive, polished hospitality
  • Assist the bar team with glassware, ice, stocking, organization and other barback responsibilities
  • Help maintain a clean, organized and well-prepared restaurant before, during and after service
  • Communicate constantly with the kitchen, bar, servers and fellow Support Team Members
  • Contribute to a culture where teammates help, teach and learn from one another
Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to know everything about restaurants yet. We can teach restaurant skills. We’re looking for the qualities that are harder to teach.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Genuinely enjoy helping and taking care of people
  • Bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Notice the little things and take initiative without always needing to be asked
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Stay composed and engaged in a busy environment
  • Take pride in doing things well, whether a guest notices them or not
  • Want an opportunity to grow within the restaurant industry

We believe the strongest teams are built when everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn.

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older due to responsibilities involving alcohol service
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand and remain active for 6–8 hours
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required by the restaurant
  • Dependable transportation and punctual attendance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a fast-moving team
Why Feather & Wedge?

We care deeply about the food and drinks we serve, but hospitality is ultimately about people.

We want to create a restaurant where guests feel cared for, where teammates genuinely support one another, and where people who want to build a career in hospitality have the opportunity to learn, take on more responsibility and grow.

If you’re excited to work hard, learn the restaurant from the ground up and become part of a team that takes pride in taking care of people, we’d love to meet you.
