Requirements:

The Web Developer & Digital Marketing Specialist is a hands-on developer who owns the build, performance, and growth of the Commence website. This full-time role pairs web development with website optimization, SEO, and web analytics. The specialist will translate company and customer needs into functional, branded, and search-optimized web experiences. Beyond development, they will own SEO initiatives, manage web analytics, and identify opportunities to improve website performance, user experience, and lead generation.

  • Design, build, and maintain responsive, high-performing web pages and features for the Commence website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js.
  • Own the full web development lifecycle (design, development, testing, and deployment) ensuring quality, performance, and brand consistency across every page.
  • Manage and customize the Commence WordPress website, including CMS administration, PHP-based templating, plugin management, and custom functionality (or a willingness to learn PHP).
  • Integrate and troubleshoot RESTful APIs and third-party tools (forms, tracking, marketing tools), handling asynchronous operations and ensuring optimal performance and data accuracy.
  • Create responsive designs that work seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes, in collaboration with the Sr. Visual Designer.
  • Own and execute SEO initiatives, including keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO best practices, and content pathway improvements that increase organic visibility and traffic.
  • Own website analytics, including tracking configuration, traffic and conversion monitoring, and reporting that translates website performance into actionable recommendations.
  • Build, test, and optimize landing pages, user journeys, and conversion pathways that support campaigns, events, and lead generation.
  • Monitor core web vitals, site navigation, and content pathways; troubleshoot and resolve UI and performance issues.
  • Partner with the Marketing Lead to translate brand direction and campaign goals into effective web experiences, maintaining high graphic standards and brand consistency.
  • Contribute to marketing performance reporting that connects web, content, and campaign activity to pipeline influence for leadership.
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies, AI-assisted tools, and best practices across front-end development, SEO, and web performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, digital marketing, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment).
  • 3–5 years of experience in front-end development or a hands-on web role, ideally with exposure to SEO, web optimization, or digital marketing.
  • Proficiency in React.js and JavaScript with a strong understanding of their core principles.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous operations.
  • Experience with PHP (or a strong willingness to learn PHP) for CMS templating and customization.
  • Experience managing and maintaining WordPress websites, including content updates, plugin management, CMS administration, and troubleshooting website integrations.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern front-end build tools.
  • Demonstrated SEO experience, including on-page optimization, keyword research, and technical SEO fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics/GA4 and Search Console) and the ability to turn data into clear recommendations.
  • An eye for aesthetics, design, and brand consistency; prior UI/UX design experience is a plus.
  • Excellent project management skills: self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly kinetic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to facilitate own meetings as necessary, comfortable working with customers as well as all levels of the organization.
