Job description

Position Summary

The Receiving & Assembly Associate is responsible for accurate intake of merchandise, inventory control, and professional assembly of products (grills, outdoor power equipment, furniture, etc.). This role directly impacts in-stock position, sales readiness, and customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities

1. Receiving & Inventory Control

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips 
  • Identify and report discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately 
  • Accurately check in merchandise using POS / inventory systems (Epicor or ACE systems) 
  • Label, tag, and route product to correct departments or staging areas 
  • Maintain organized receiving area with clear workflow (no bottlenecks) 
  • Execute vendor-managed inventory (VMI) processes where applicable 
  • Ensure priority items are floor-ready within same day (target: <24 hours) 

2. Assembly Operations

Assemble products to manufacturer and ACE standards: 

  • Grills (Weber, Traeger, Big Green Egg, Napoleon) 
  • Outdoor power equipment (EGO, Stihl, Toro) 
  • Patio furniture, wheelbarrows, snow blowers, etc. 
  • Perform safety checks and quality assurance before product hits the floor or delivery 
  • Stage completed units for display or customer pickup/delivery 
  • Maintain assembly tools, workspace, and parts inventory 

3. Merchandising Support

  • Assist with floor resets and seasonal builds (grill displays, snow, lawn & garden) 
  • Ensure assembled products are clean, priced, and retail-ready 
  • Support promotional setups and vendor displays 

4. Delivery & Customer Support (as needed)

  • Assist with loading customer vehicles safely and efficiently 
  • Support local deliveries when required 
  • Provide basic product education to customers (grill startup, equipment usage)

Qualifications

  • Prior warehouse, receiving, or assembly experience preferred 
  • Mechanical aptitude (tools, equipment assembly) required 
  • Ability to lift 50–100 lbs consistently 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Comfortable using inventory/POS systems 
  • Valid driver’s license

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced retail and warehouse setting 
  • Indoor and outdoor work depending on season 
  • Exposure to equipment, tools, and moving inventory

Compensation & Structure (optional to include)

  • $17-$21 Hourly and performance incentives tied to assembly output (e.g., per grill/unit bonus) and receiving accuracy and speed.
  • Opportunity for advancement into Operations or Floor Leadership
