Job description

Position Summary At Ogden-Weber Technical College (OTECH), we believe in building Community, fostering Learning, and leading with Integrity. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Cosmetology Instructor who is passionate about helping students develop the knowledge and hands-on technical skills needed for a successful career in the beauty industry. In this role, you will provide instruction in a variety of cosmetology content areas, including hairstyling, chemical services, hair cutting, nail care, front desk operations, and the related theory required to obtain a state license.

Beyond the classroom, you will play a key role in supporting student success by verifying competencies, providing advisement and retention support, maintaining accurate student records, and building connections with area employers to strengthen career opportunities for graduates. This position works under the direction of the Cosmetology Instructor/Coordinator and the Program Manager. Essential Functions 1.

Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean and productive learning environment. 2. Administer and correct tests; annotate progress on student tracking records.

3. Advance the retention of students in support of achieving program membership hour goals. 4.

Assist students with job placement and applicable industry or state certifications/licenses in support of meeting program placement and certification goals. 5. Motivate and advise students in the areas of appropriate work behavior, training, or study habits.

Assist counselors, supervisors, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training. 6. Follow the daily operational direction and schedule of the Instructor/Coordinator.

7. Encourage and exemplify professionalism and good work habits. 8.

Support programmatic and College marketing activities. 9. Work cooperatively within the College community.

10. Control the use of equipment and supplies; recommend purchases. 11.

Comply with college-wide and program-specific cash handling procedures and processes. 12. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2.

Current cosmetology license required. Preference will be given to those individuals who hold a cosmetology instructor license. 3.

Minimum of one year of documented practical cosmetology experience or required on-the-job training to obtain instructor license. 4. Preference will be given to those individuals who have salon/teaching experience.

5. Familiar with word processing, email and can operate a Windows-based personal computer. 6.

Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Typically, the employee will be on their feet for their whole shift.

There may be some walking; bending; carrying light items (10-15 lbs); driving an automobile, etc. 2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc

Additional Information WORKING HOURS: We are hiring for part-time positions with both daytime (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) and evening (Tuesday-Thursday, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) schedules available
