Job description

Performance Driven Workforce (PDW) is now hiring Full-time Automotive Sewing Machine Operators for an automotive Tier 1 supplier. Full-time Automotive Sewing Machine Operators will operate digital sewing machines to sew automotive trim products in accordance with company performance and quality standards. Automotive Sewing Machine Operators will follow basic sewing instructions, maintain and clean sewing machines, change needles as needed, and ensure finished products meet quality requirements. This Full-time Automotive Sewing Machine Operators position is based out of Livonia, MI and offers an AM day shift plus overtime as needed. Candidates with sewing experience who are comfortable operating sewing machines and are interested in an opportunity to grow their skills in an automotive manufacturing environment are strongly encouraged to apply.
Shift:
  • AM day shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Monday - Friday)
    • Overtime: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Responsibilities:
  • Operate digital sewing machines to sew automotive trim
  • Follow basic sewing instructions and company quality requirements
  • Change the sewing machine needle when needed
  • Clean and perform basic care of the sewing machine
  • Monitor the quality of sewn trim and ensure products meet company standards
  • Follow production and work instructions accurately
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Work safely and follow all company policies and procedures
  • Communicate any equipment or quality concerns to the appropriate team member or supervisor
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience sewing at home or as a seamstress, quilter, drapery sewer, sewing operator, or similar
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of sewing machines and be comfortable operating them
  • Ability to learn and operate digital sewing machines
  • Ability to pass a hands-on sewing assessment
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions written and communicate in English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior manufacturing experience
  • Industrial sewing experience is not required
  • Experience working with Juki sewing machines
