Web Services Administrator [Remote] Clearance: Active Secret About the Opportunity We're looking for a skilled Web Services Administrator to join a dynamic IT team supporting enterprise-level web infrastructure. In this role, you'll be responsible for the administration, performance, and security of web servers, applications, and related services that keep our organization running. You'll work across a broad technology stack, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in ensuring high availability and optimal performance of mission-critical web environments.

Job Requirements: What You'll Do Web Server Administration & Operations Install, configure, and maintain web servers and related software (e.g., IIS, Apache, Nginx) across development, staging, and production environments Monitor web services, application performance, and server health to ensure maximum uptime and responsiveness Manage SSL/TLS certificates, domain configurations, and DNS records to ensure secure and reliable web service delivery Perform scheduled maintenance, patching, and upgrades with minimal disruption to end users Security & Compliance Implement and enforce web security best practices, including hardening configurations, managing access controls, and applying security patches Monitor for vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and coordinate remediation efforts with cybersecurity teams Ensure web services comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements Conduct regular audits of web service configurations and access logs Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve complex web service issues, including latency, availability, and configuration problems Perform load balancing, caching, and tuning to optimize web application delivery and user experience Conduct root cause analysis on outages or degraded performance and implement preventive measures Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to resolve integration and compatibility issues Cloud & Modern Infrastructure Administer cloud-hosted web services across platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP Support containerized web application deployments using Docker or Kubernetes Assist in the migration of on-premises web services to cloud-based infrastructure Evaluate and recommend new web technologies, frameworks, and hosting solutions Automation & Documentation Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine administration tasks, deployments, and monitoring Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and architecture diagrams Manage configuration through infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible where applicable Collaboration & Communication Serve as a technical resource for internal teams, providing guidance on web service capabilities, limitations, and best practices Translate technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders Participate in change management processes, including change requests, approvals, and post-implementation reviews Provide Tier II/III support for web service-related incidents and escalations Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience 4-6 years of experience in web services administration, systems administration, or a closely related IT role Hands-on experience with web server platforms such as IIS, Apache, or Nginx Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and Active Directory Strong understanding of networking fundamentals - DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/S, load balancing, and firewalls Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and cloud-hosted web services Solid scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for web application deployment Knowledge of web application firewalls (WAF) and DDoS mitigation strategies Experience in a federal, defense, or highly regulated industry environment * Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Why Join Us This is more than a maintenance role - you'll be a key contributor to the design, security, and evolution of web infrastructure that real people depend on.
