SALARY: $22.80 Hourly


Associate of science degree in computer science or bachelor's degree in computer science or a directly related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Applicants within six months of meeting the education/experience requirement may be considered for trainee status.


Successful completion of a criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment.

Position Summary:

This is a skilled technical position, responsible for the administrative work in the design, development and implementation of database and web design systems for the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office.


An employee assigned to this classification performs a variety of standard technical tasks relating to the analysis of data through the application of data processing and report development for the record systems.


Work is performed under the direction of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained.

Examples of Duties:

Designs, maintains and documents the development of web pages according to Elections specifications; designs and implements new Web technologies as they become necessary; ensures Internet security using current and future Firewall technologies by coordinating with the County Information Services and Telecommunications Department and appropriate vendor services.


Assists with designing printed ballot and programming voter database for each election.


Assists with creation of the database for each election.


Prepares reports and data for public records requests and statistical analysis. Maintains reports and records from voter data.


Researches and implements updates for new addresses. Confirms and verifies voter's addresses in the election database. Adds new physical addresses in the voter registration database when new developments/subdivisions are constructed.


Maintains the voter registration street index and precinct boundaries.


Assists in the preparation and maintenance of street system maps, plats and databases from the GIS System.


Assists with ballot coordination, tabulation and voter check-in equipment testing.


Assists with printing poll registers for each election.


Assists with programming Election Day and Early Voting activators for electronic poll books.


Assists with memory cards and lanyards creation.


Assists in running vote-by-mail ballots through the high-speed scanners during Canvassing Board Meetings and recount elections.


Uploads live results into program on election night.


Creates and designs official sample ballot artwork for mailer and ad for newspaper publication.


Evaluates existing systems and programs and makes recommendations for improving operational efficiency and productivity.


Provides candidates, parties, and PACs with secure login, access, and support to Electronic Report Filing system.


Provides training to staff and the public on pertinent Web development and usage.


Provides technical support for all Elections Online content.


Manages and supports staffs’ computers and external devices.


Ensures that Department of State rules, federal, state, and local law are satisfied.


Performs related tasks as required.
