Job description

Part-Time Contract Designer (Marketing) โ€” Boulder, CO

SumUp is a global financial technology company that helps businesses of all sizes accept payments and manage their business both in-store and online. We support millions of merchants globally across dozens of markets, and we're building a world where everyone can build a thriving business.

We're looking for a part-time, hands-on designer to join our US Growth & Marketing team. You'll be executing high-volume, high-impact creative across sales collateral and performance marketing, with a strong emphasis on Meta ads and motion.

Location: Boulder, CO (preferred in-office)

Type: Part-time (hourly)

Who you are

You're a mid-level designer who can move quickly, take direction well, and also push work forward independently when the ask is a little fuzzy. You have strong fundamentals (layout, typography, brand consistency), a sharp eye for ad creative that performs, and you can bring designs to life with motion graphics. You're familiar with using AI platforms such as Nano Banana and VEO 3.1 to be your thought partner when appropriate.

What you'll do

- Design on-brand sales collateral, including one-pagers, decks, case studies, and enablement assets

- Produce and iterate performance marketing creative, especially Meta ads (static, carousels, lightweight motion, and short-form video assets)

- Create motion graphics for paid social, including animated text, transitions, and simple product/benefit storytelling

- Adapt concepts into multiple sizes, formats, and versions for testing (fast iteration is the job)

- Collaborate closely with marketing stakeholders (growth, partnerships, sales enablement) to turn briefs into polished creative

- Maintain and evolve templates and lightweight systems that make the team faster (toolkits, reusable ad layouts, slide templates)

You'll be great for this role if you have

- 3โ€“5 years of relevant design experience (in-house, agency, or freelance), ideally supporting marketing and/or sales teams

- A portfolio that shows strength in both marketing design and performance creative (ads that feel like they're built to win, not just look pretty)

- Motion graphics experience (After Effects or equivalent), including social-first animation

- Strong proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

- Solid production design skills: speed, precision, file organization, and consistency

- The ability to work from brand guidelines without making everything feel templated

- Clear communication and comfort giving/receiving feedback in a fast-paced environment

- Comfortable with ambiguous briefs that quickly evolve

- Experience manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Nice to have

- Experience designing for acquisition funnels (landing pages, email graphics, lightweight web assets)

- Familiarity with creative testing frameworks for Meta

- Experience in fintech, payments, or SaaS

- Background working with small business or merchant audiences

- Experience managing or contributing to brand social media channels, with an understanding of platform-native content, posting cadence, and community engagement

Benefits

- A global team with a scrappy, high-ownership culture

- A fast-moving marketing team where your work will ship, not sit in a queue

- Collaboration with stakeholders across growth, sales, and partnerships

- You'll work closely with and report to the US Senior Designer, getting hands-on exposure across the full scope of a lean, high-output marketing team

Compensation

Hourly pay range: $30โ€“$45/hour (based on experience), not to exceed 15 hours/week
