Web content writing helps organizations engage online users and increase traffic to their websites. A web content writer creates content for social media posts, website articles, blog posts, and other marketing materials. Web content writers use search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, including keyword analysis. Using certain keywords can help drive online users toward the content through search engine results. Common web content writer duties include writing content, submitting content through a content management system (CMS), researching, and communicating with online users. Web content writers may work on staff in the office or they may work remotely from home or another off-site location.

What does a web content writer do?

A Web Content Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and publishing written content for websites. Their work involves researching topics, optimizing content for search engines (SEO), and ensuring that the writing aligns with the brand's voice and goals. They may produce blog posts, articles, product descriptions, and other types of web copy to engage audiences and drive traffic. Web Content Writers collaborate with designers, marketers, and other team members to ensure cohesive and effective online communication.

To thrive as a Web Content Writer, you need strong writing, editing, and research skills, often supported by a degree in communications, journalism, or English. • Apply content standards, design system guidance, and messaging frameworks for consistent experiences across products and channels
  • Contribute to content governance, reusable patterns, and scalable content components
  • Define content structures, taxonomies, and metadata strategies to enable reuse, personalization, and scalability
  • Evolve content systems for AI-powered and conversational experiences while maintaining clarity, accuracy, compliance, and user trust
  • Define and refine content patterns, conversational experiences, prompts, and guidance for AI-enabled member experiences
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate content creation, research synthesis, and workflow efficiency
  • Evaluate and experiment with emerging AI capabilities, sharing learnings and recommendations with the broader design team

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience building and applying content systems, standards, and reusable patterns
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and managing multiple initiatives
  • Healthcare, pharmacy, PBM, or regulated industry experience preferred
