Job description


Boston University's Marketing & Communications department seeks a talented, experienced Web Content Producer. You will be an important contributing team member responsible for ongoing content management and production for three of the University's high-visibility, award-winning editorial websites: BU Today, Bostonia, and The Brink. You will work alongside the Production Manager, Web Content Producer, and a creative team of publication editors, designers, and content providers across External Affairs to build and publish posts, web pages, and multimedia content (videos, podcasts, and more) using WordPress content management system (CMS); maintain and update content on curated webpages; research, source, gather and prepare media assets for upload to the CMS; plan, build and send email newsletters; write and edit copy for email newsletters and other editorial content; work closely with writers and other content providers to help guide the creative presentation of editorial content, and contribute to content strategy initiatives. Required Skills
  • B.A. / B.S. with 2 or more years of web content experience.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in Content Management Systems (WordPress) required.
  • Intermediate experience using Adobe Photoshop or other Adobe CS/CC applications.
  • Hands-on Search Engine Optimization experience and knowledge of current SEO best practices; intermediate skill level for technical and on-page SEO and writing for SEO.
  • Planning, testing, and writing marketing emails; knowledge of marketing email best practices.
  • Project management skills with proven abilities in tracking long- and short-range deadlines and cross-team collaboration and communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:
  • Copywriting and copyediting experience; familiarity with Chicago style.
  • GA4 certification or other Analytics experience. ?Audio/podcast editing and production experience. ?Proficiency in writing standards-based HTML and CSS markup.
