We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Digital Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support modern digital applications, websites, and cloud-native platforms. This individual will serve as a technical leader responsible for building scalable, secure, and high-performing digital experiences while leveraging the latest AI-assisted development tools and cloud technologies. We are looking for a builder—someone who enjoys creating modern digital experiences, embraces AI-enabled development, and can take a project from concept to production while maintaining enterprise-grade security, reliability, and performance.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing code, architecting cloud environments, implementing DevOps automation, and partnering with business stakeholders to transform ideas into production-ready solutions. Experience in healthcare, regulated environments, and modern AI-enabled software development practices is highly desirable.

Essential Duties:

Application & Web Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain modern websites, portals, web applications, and digital products.
  • Build responsive, mobile-friendly, and accessible user experiences.
  • Develop scalable front-end and back-end solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Integrate applications with APIs, third-party platforms, and enterprise systems.
  • Lead technical design and architecture decisions for new digital initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize application performance, reliability, and security.

AI-Assisted Development

  • Utilize modern AI development tools to accelerate software delivery and improve code quality.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with AI-enabled coding platforms including:
    • Claude Code
    • GitHub Copilot
    • ChatGPT

    • Other emerging AI development assistants
  • Establish best practices for AI-assisted software development and code governance.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-powered capabilities within digital applications.

Cloud Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Build and support highly available, scalable, and secure hosting environments.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Develop deployment architectures that support both traditional web applications and AI-enabled services.

DevOps & Platform Engineering

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

  • Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes where appropriate.
  • Implement observability solutions for performance monitoring and operational intelligence.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure solutions adhere to cybersecurity and privacy best practices.
  • Participate in security reviews, vulnerability remediation, and compliance initiatives.
  • Support HIPAA, healthcare security, and regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to maintain secure cloud environments.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with marketing, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in technical roadmap planning and architecture reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement of development standards, tools, and processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building and supporting modern web applications.
  • Strong experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
  • Strong experience using modern AI-assisted software development tools.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, and cloud-native application design.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.

Salary Range: $105,300 - $130,700*

Additional Salary Information*:

  • The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.*
  • Jefferson Center pay is determined by various factors including education level, licensure level, years of relative experience, and internal equity amongst current staff.*
