Description
Under general direction from the Director Campus Security assist with all security functions, including; Patrolling, Investigations, Monitoring the security camera system and Responding to calls for service. Act as a liaison between WCTC and its staff, students and general public.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the major responsibilities and requirements of the job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated on this description.
  • Guarding and patrolling campus property.
  • Investigating accidents, injuries and criminal acts.
  • File required reports relating to illnesses/injuries, investigations, criminal activities, security matters and behavioral incidents.
  • Provide direction to clerical support staff and Student Security Officers as necessary.
  • Interpret and enforce policies and procedures, communicate information, and resolve problems and con?icts.
  • Monitor all security equipment and activate appropriate alarms/notification systems.
  • Collaborate with local Police/Fire units in performance of security activities.
  • Assist with surveillance when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Aptitude for organization and problem solving
  • Working knowledge of safety and security principles
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with administrative personnel, instructors, students, and the general public
  • Working knowledge of vocational, technical and adult education
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discrete and professional manner
  • Familiarity with audio/visual and computer equipment and operations
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Previous security/public safety experience preferred
  2. Two (2) years work experience in an educational setting preferred, which has emphasized public contact
  3. Associate's degree in Security or Criminal Justice required, or equivalent work experience

Supplemental Information
The Campus Security Officer role is a casual position located on either our Waukesha or Pewaukee campus. The position is scheduled for up to 20 hours per week, which will primarily be the evenings and weekends.
The position is available to start in August, 2026.
