Description

As an Educational Assistant, you'll play an important role in the daily operations of our dental clinic and instructional labs by ensuring equipment, supplies, and clinical spaces are ready for learning while providing outstanding support to students, faculty, staff, and patients. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the major responsibilities and requirements of the job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated on this description.
  1. Maintain and set up equipment for proper functioning. Arrange for and document routine repairs and quality testing on equipment and arrange for repairs.
  2. Clean and maintain orderliness of lab/clinic -ensure proper storage and safeguard of equipment, and sterilize, wrap, and ensure proper storage of hand instruments in accordance with health and safety standards.
  3. Inventory, obtain quotations, order, stock and maintain supplies. Prepare purchase requisitions (capital equipment and basic supplies) and maintain files and records of products and supplies
  4. Assist students in scheduling process, patient recordkeeping, and explaining, demonstrating, and using equipment. Maintaining patient records
  5. Order and assign radiography monitoring badges for faculty, dentists, and students. Submit badges for monitoring monthly. Dispense prescribed radiography films to students
  6. Support students with various requests and needs related to both programs, as well as locker assignments, key distribution and other related student support tasks
  7. Perform a variety of routine duties including typing of correspondence or forms, duplicating materials, and related office duties
  8. Provide reception support i.e. answer and screen telephone calls, greet and interact with the public, students, faculty and staff, respond to general inquiries and requests, as needed.
  9. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.
  10. Participate in and contribute to special projects that support student learning.
  11. Provide support to faculty related to various administrative tasks including helping maintain accreditation standards and future accreditation visits.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Familiarity with health and safety practices related to blood and bodily fluids and instrument sterilization; familiarity with dental equipment and dental software used in dental practices
  • Basic accounting, computer skills, and office procedures
  • Demonstrated customer service skills that meet or exceed internal and external expectations
  • Orientation to detail, completing and maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in speaking, writing and listening
  • Ability to manage time, organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work processes
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work on several projects at a time
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with computer software applications such as word processing and excel spreadsheets
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate degree
  • Two years of related work experience in health or clinical, dental setting preferred.

Supplemental Information
The Educational Assistant position supports the Dental, Medical Assistant & Health department.
This is a 10-month position, working 40 hours per week.
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility within that timeframe.
