Role purpose
The Water Tester / Sales Closer generates in-home water testing opportunities, educates customers on water quality findings, presents filtration solutions, and closes approved sales. This role combines consultative selling, customer education, and accurate handoff to operations for installation and follow-up.
Primary objectives
•Generate revenue through qualified water treatment solution sales.
•Build customer trust through professional testing, education, and recommendation.
•Be on time and call the customer ahead with an accurate time of arrival.
•Maintain accurate financing details and order documentation.
•Support a smooth transition from sale to installation.
Customer lead management
•Follow up on assigned leads within the required response window.
•Confirm appointments, customer needs, and property details before each visit.
•Maintain an organized calendar and route schedule.
•Record lead status, contact attempts, and appointment outcomes in the company CRM.
Water testing and customer consultation
•Conduct on-site water testing using approved company tools, scripts, and procedures.
•Explain test results in clear customer-friendly language.
•Identify customer pain points such as taste, odor, hardness, scale, maintenance burden, or equipment performance. •Recommend the appropriate filtration, conditioning, or purification solution based on customer needs and company guidelines. Sales presentation and closing
•Deliver a structured sales presentation that explains product benefits, pricing, financing, warranty, and expected outcomes. •Address customer objections professionally and accurately.
•Ask for the sale and close business using approved pricing and discount authority.
•Complete finance applications, payment collection, and supporting sales documents as required.
Documentation and handoff
•Submit complete and accurate sales packets, contracts, installation notes, photos, measurements, and supporting documentation. •Verify scope details including product selected, access conditions, plumbing notes, and customer expectations. •Communicate special installation requirements or risks to the operations team.
• Walk the customer through the install standards guide and explain next steps, installation timing, and customer responsibilities. •Help the customer download the Service Matrix app and provide a brief explanation so the customer feels comfortable using it. •Take pictures of the faucet, under the sink, and the garage area where the customer wants the system installed.

•Represent Select Source Water professionally through communication, punctuality, and customer trust-building behavior. •Respond to customer questions before and after the sale within company service standards.
•Support positive reviews, referrals, and repeat business opportunities.
Compliance and process adherence
•Follow all company sales policies, financing rules, documentation standards, and applicable regulations. •Use only approved claims, scripts, and product representations.
•Wear a company branded shirt and badge before entering the home.
•Keep the water kit clean and up to company standards during customer presentation.
•Protect customer information and maintain confidentiality.
•Attend required sales meetings, trainings, ride-alongs, and role reviews.
Decision rights and authority
•May recommend solutions within approved product offerings.
•May offer pricing, promotions, or discounts only within assigned authority levels.
•May request management approval for non-standard pricing, exceptions, or special terms.
•May not commit to installation dates, free scope additions, or custom work without operations approval. •Will report to the Sales Manager for KPIs.
