Job description

NaphCare is hiring experienced Dental Assistants to join our team of healthcare professionals at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, NV.

We currently have Part-Time (16 hours/week) and PRN positions available, offering flexibility for experienced Dental Assistants interested in bringing their skills into a unique healthcare environment. Pay for this position is $20.90–$22.00 per hour.

As a Correctional Dental Assistant, you’ll work alongside our Dentist, healthcare team, and correctional staff to provide quality dental care to our patient population. You’ll utilize your dental assisting experience while caring for patients with a variety of dental and healthcare needs in a safe, structured clinical environment.


As a Dental Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting the Dentist with patient care, procedures, instruments, supplies, and documentation
  • Preparing patients for dental procedures and assisting during treatment
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting dental instruments and equipment
  • Ensuring the dental suite is clean, organized, and properly stocked
  • Assisting with dental sick-call requests, triage, scheduling, and patient records
  • Educating patients on dental procedures and oral hygiene practices
  • Taking and developing X-rays
  • Assisting with dental laboratory functions and other administrative duties as needed

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Completion of a one or two-year dental assistant program at a vocational school or community college
  • Maintain the proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Be able to obtain CPR certification
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
