What are warehouse rates?

Warehouse rates refer to the fees charged for storing goods in a warehouse facility. These rates can vary depending on factors such as the type of goods, the amount of space required, the duration of storage, and any special handling or services needed. Typically, warehouse rates are calculated per pallet, per square foot, or per cubic foot, and may also include additional fees for inventory management, loading, unloading, or climate control. It's important for businesses to understand these rates to accurately estimate their storage costs and choose the right warehouse provider.

What are some common challenges faced by warehouse rate clerks, and how can they be managed on the job?

Warehouse rate clerks often face challenges such as handling a high volume of shipments, ensuring accurate data entry for rates and charges, and staying up-to-date with changing shipping regulations or carrier rates. Proactively collaborating with supervisors and participating in ongoing training can also help clerks adapt to new procedures and industry updates.

Job description

About Us

BCS Stone & Cabinets Orlando Inc. is a B2B provider of integrated stone and cabinetry solutions. We support fabricators, builders, contractors, remodelers, dealers, and distributors with factory-direct advantages and strong inventory support. Backed by the global Best Cheer platform, we help our trade partners stay competitive and keep their projects moving.

Key Responsibilities

This is a dual-role position involving both warehouse operations and professional B2B deliveries:

  • Delivery (30% to 50% of time):
    • Drive a 26-foot Box Truck (Non-CDL) to deliver cabinetry to local B2B customers and commercial job sites.
    • Safely load and unload cabinets; this is a "touch freight" role requiring manual lifting.
    • Ensure all deliveries are on time and products arrive in perfect condition for our professional partners.
  • Warehouse (50% to 70% of time):
    • Operate a forklift to safely handle stone slabs, cabinets, and heavy products.
    • Help with loading/unloading B2B shipments and maintaining a clean, organized warehouse.
    • Use barcode scanning technology to manage shipping, receiving, and inventory.
    • Support team members with general inventory tasks and material handling.

Qualifications

  • Driving: Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record (No CDL required).
  • Forklift: Experience operating a sit-down forklift is required; certification is preferred.
  • Physical: Must be able to lift, pull, and push up to 75 pounds repeatedly, and work in a warehouse environment.
  • Inventory: Experience with barcode scanning for shipping and receiving is preferred.
  • Language: Basic English communication skills; Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Attitude: Reliable, hardworking, and careful when handling fragile cabinetry products.

Compensation & Benefits

This position utilizes a dual-pay rate structure based on the specific task performed:

  • Driving Rate: $22.00 / hour (Applies when operating the vehicle for deliveries).
  • Warehouse Rate: $20.00 / hour (Applies during warehouse operations, loading, and inventory tasks).
  • Overtime: 1.5x pay for hours worked over 40 per week.
  • Insurance: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision plans.
  • Retirement: 401(k) with 3% Company Match.
  • Time Off: 10 days of PTO in the first year plus Paid Holidays.

Working Conditions

  • Local Routes: Home every night; no long-haul or overnight travel.
  • Environment: Work occurs in both the warehouse and at customer job sites.

Best Cheer Stone is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
