Warehouse Manager

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Warehouse Manager to be based out of our Hobart, IN location. Reporting to the Sr Inventory Control MGR, this person will manage and coordinate all warehouse functions for the Harvey location, including safety programs, receiving, storage, picking, and shipping.

The Warehouse operation is presently 24 hours across three shifts M-F, with occasional Saturday work. This position will lead a department of approximately 7 salary and 60-80 hourly employees. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of warehouse and logistics experience, with 7 years at the management level. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is desired.

 What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with our Customer Service, Manufacturing, Demand Planning and Corporate Transportation departments, this position will oversee the day-to-day distribution, warehousing, and fulfillment operations by maintaining and enhancing existing standards.
  • Ensure the highest standards achieved in the Warehouse in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Drive consistency and cost reduction through the creation and implementation of standard work.
  • Creating, implementing, and managing distribution center KPI’s.
  • Leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams in Kaizen and Lean.
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to investigate service failures, and develop, implement, and monitor appropriate corrective and preventative action.
  • Develop and manage Warehouse, inventory & transportation workforce with performance assessments, professional development coaching, etc.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve the Commercial Metrics, Atkore’s measure of on-time delivery.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of warehouse and logistics experience, with 7 years at the management level.
  • 5-7 years of experience managing a Warehouse facility with responsibility for a budget of $12-15MM.
  • Experience managing employee relations in a unionized environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with WMS, JDE and RF Smart highly desired.
  • Experience with lean and six sigma processes and/ or Lean/Six Sigma certification desired.

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete the Atkore Immersion program.
  • Learn the Atkore Business System and how we use LEAN principles in running our business.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of JDE/RF-Smart as related to warehouse transactions.

 Within 6 months, you’ll:

  •  Know and understand Atkore’s Strategic Summary and how your role contributes to the Strategic Deployment Process.
  • Lead individual development plans with warehouse supervisors to enhance their performance.
  • Participate in a Kaizen event relevant to your scope of work to improve or develop a new process.

 Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Contribute ideas in process improvement including KPI’s of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Manage / Lead an annual Physical Inventory process.
  • Drive all Warehouse Metrics to achieve organizational goals.

    As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $90,960 - $125,070.  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
