Job description

We are currently seeking a results-driven Warehouse VMI Manager (Vendor Managed Inventory) to lead VMI operations at our Springfield, MO distribution facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse VMI operations while leading, coaching, and developing a team to meet company objectives and deliver exceptional customer service.

Position Summary
The Warehouse VMI Manager is ultimately accountable for the overall VMI performance, efficiency, and compliance of VMI operations. This includes shipping, receiving, inventory control, purchasing, staff development, and facility management. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of all warehouse VMI functions and will lead by example to uphold the highest operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to warehouse staff to achieve daily VMI goals and ensure smooth, efficient facility operations
  • Maintain full VMI accountability
  • Ensure excellent customer service standards are met, respond efficiently to customer and sales team inquiries, and support high customer satisfaction
  • Oversee training and ongoing team development
  • Ensure compliance with the ISO Quality Program, safety standards, and company policies
  • Collaborate closely with the teams to support customer needs and new business opportunities
  • Communicate effectively with other branch managers
  • Run and analyze daily VMI operational reports, including open customer orders, open purchase orders, and open transfer orders
  • Step in to cover VMI operational needs during employee absences as required
  • Ensure the facility, equipment, and supplies are maintained in good working order and that operational needs are anticipated and addressed in the warehouse and at vendor locations
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce VMI operational costs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong warehousing and distribution experience
  • Proven leadership and people-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ERPs, and strong overall computer skills
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, sales support, and quality systems
