What are Want Ads?

Want Ads, short for 'want advertisements,' are classified ads typically placed in newspapers, magazines, or online platforms by individuals or businesses seeking to buy, sell, or hire goods and services. Commonly, these ads are used for job postings, real estate listings, or selling secondhand items. Want Ads are a cost-effective way for people to reach a targeted audience looking for specific products, services, or employment opportunities. Today, many Want Ads have moved to digital formats on websites and apps, making them even more accessible and searchable.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Classified Advertising Sales Representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Classified Advertising Sales Representative, you need strong sales skills, persuasive communication, and a solid understanding of advertising principles, often supported by a background in marketing or business. Familiarity with CRM software, digital ad platforms, and print media systems is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, resilience, and the ability to build client relationships set top performers apart. These qualities are crucial for meeting sales targets, creating effective ads, and maintaining customer satisfaction in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals managing want ads, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals managing want ads often face challenges such as ensuring ads reach the right audience, maintaining compliance with advertising standards, and standing out in a competitive marketplace. Addressing these issues typically involves using data analytics to target specific demographics, staying updated on advertising regulations, and leveraging creative copywriting to craft compelling ads. Collaborating closely with marketing, sales, and design teams also helps ensure the ads are both effective and compliant, resulting in better engagement and higher response rates.

Job description

Job Details:
We're looking for a Google Ads Specialist to set up, manage, and maintain our Google Ads campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement Google Ads strategy
  • Create, maintain, and manage ad campaigns
  • Oversee retargeting analytics and track ad metrics

This position is remote and self-paced. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can devote at least 20 or more hours per week, but if you have fewer hours available at least initially, that is OK.

You must be good at self-direction and taking initiative. In addition, it is important to us that all of our team members are detail-oriented and meticulous; therefore, in the application form, when it asks for your “favorite vegetable?” Please put the word “eggplant.”
NOTE: we have various video ads already created and we have video creators who can create ads, so you do not need to create the ads themselves.
Required Skills:

  • 1+ year of experience in Google Ads
  • You have a track record of success in Google Ads
  • You are quick with communication via email and Slack
  • You are nice – we spend a lot of time working, so we want to be on a team with nice people
  • Bonus points if you have been involved in some way with podcasting, radio, or other related media activity (but not required)
  • Must have reliable Internet
