Job Summary:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and JVMbased technologies

  • Contribute productionquality code with a focus on scalability, performance, security, and reliability

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to evolve service architecture, APIs, and data models

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and operational readiness to ensure high code quality

As a Software Engineer II you will be part of a team that builds and maintains complex systems for managing the fulfillment and ordering of content for Disney's supply chain, from order creation to title delivery on DTC platforms.

You will assist in the design, development, testing and deployment of high-quality software solutions.

You will apply excellent communication skills while interfacing with both technical and product teams to capture new system requirements and then apply your expertise in software development in the delivery of innovative solutions for those requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Provide technical guidance and evangelize best practices.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our core systems and how they interact with upstream and downstream dependencies.

  • Contribute and review code, set standards, and work with engineers to ensure product and design specifications are met

  • Responsible for fundamental platform performance, scalability, and resiliency

  • Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements, and propose solutions to problems that span multiple teams

  • Contribute to cross-functional troubleshooting of complex issues as needed

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience building backend or fullstack web applications

  • Strong experience with Java / Java EE / JVMbased languages

  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design and serviceoriented architectures

  • Experience working with documentbased or NoSQL data stores

  • Familiarity with building and supporting highly available, secure, and performant systems

  • Experience collaborating in an agile, teambased development environment

  • 3+ years relevant industry experience

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Exposure to cloudnative development (AWS or similar)

  • Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, logging, monitoring, or infrastructureascode

  • Interest in or exposure to AI/MLassisted features, automation, or datadriven systems

  • Experience working on platforms that process large files, workflows, or asynchronous jobs

Required Education

  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA & Bristol, CT is $117,500 - $157,500. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
