Job description

Job Title:Lead Commercial Refrigeration Installer
Company:Metroplex Refrigeration
Position Type:Full-Time

Job Summary:
Metroplex Refrigeration is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Installer to join our team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of job sites, supervising installation projects from start to finish. This role requires technical expertise in assembling walk-in coolers/freezers, installing associated refrigeration systems, and setting up commercial ice machines and beverage equipment. You must be able to lead a team while delivering high-quality, efficient, and safe installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Walk-In Installation:Assemble foodservice walk-in cooler/freezer panels, ensuring structures are level, square, and sealed properly.
  • System Installation:Install refrigeration systems associated with walk-in boxes, including setting condensing units and evaporators.
  • Pipe & Components:Perform skilled brazing and soldering of copper pipe, run refrigeration lines, and install insulation.
  • Start-Up & Diagnosis:Perform evacuation, charging, and start-up of systems; diagnose and troubleshoot start-up problems and mechanical/electrical issues.
  • Ice Machines & Beverage:Install self-contained and remote commercial ice machines, including water filtration and drain systems. Install countertop and drop-in post-mix beverage dispensers.
  • Leadership:Lead installation crews, train junior technicians, and mentor apprentices on best practices.
  • Project Management:Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and manufacturer guidelines to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Service & Maintenance:Perform service calls on all installed equipment to ensure peak efficiency (a PLUS!).

Qualifications:

  • Experience:5+ years of verifiable experience in commercial refrigeration installation as a lead technician.
  • Certifications:EPA Universal Certification (Required).
  • Technical Skills:Strong diagnostic, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical skills.
  • Tools:Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Licensure:Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical Ability:Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and work from ladders or lifts.
  • Communication:Strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently or lead a team.
