Vice President, Health Product Communications

Overview

Our client, a leading global communications agency, is seeking a Vice President, Health Product Communications to support a major pharmaceutical client across multiple rare disease brands. This role will serve as the day-to-day communications lead for product-focused initiatives, partnering closely with U.S. and Global teams to develop and execute strategic communications surrounding clinical data, regulatory milestones, product launches, medical congresses, and branded/unbranded campaigns.

The ideal candidate has extensive agency experience supporting pharmaceutical or biotech clients, excels at managing multiple stakeholders, and thrives in a fast-paced client services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day product communications across multiple pharmaceutical accounts supporting both U.S. and Global teams.
  • Develop and execute communications surrounding:
    • Clinical trial data and publications
    • Regulatory milestones and FDA approvals
    • Product launches
    • Medical congresses and sponsored content
    • Press materials, messaging, and product announcements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by building strong relationships and adapting to varying communication styles.
  • Manage multiple workstreams while ensuring projects remain on schedule and deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across earned media, digital, paid, social, and medical communications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members while helping prioritize workload and maintain project organization.
  • Oversee Veeva PromoMats review and approval workflows to ensure timely and compliant submissions.
  • Partner with agency leadership to support ongoing account growth and expansion opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years of agency healthcare or pharmaceutical communications experience.
  • Strong background in healthcare product communications supporting prescription drugs, biologics, or medical treatments.
  • Experience leading communications for:
    • Clinical data milestones
    • Regulatory milestones and FDA approvals
    • Product launches
    • Medical congresses
    • Scientific publications
  • Experience managing multiple pharmaceutical or biotech clients simultaneously.
  • Excellent client management skills with strong communication and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working within a healthcare PR or integrated communications agency.
  • Familiarity with Veeva PromoMats or Veeva approval workflows.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams across earned, digital, paid, and social communications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rare disease communications experience.
  • Hematology, hemophilia, blood disorders, or rare lung disease experience.
  • Experience supporting both U.S. and Global pharmaceutical communications programs.
  • Social media content experience.
  • Interest in a long-term contract-to-hire opportunity.
