We are looking for a strong, stable, people-focused leader with a demonstrated track record of success in residential homebuilding purchasing. An exceptionally strong, tenured Director of Purchasing who is ready to take the next step into a VP-level role will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the purchasing team to achieve company goals and operational objectives.
  • Recruit, hire, and build a high-performing purchasing organization as the company grows.
  • Leverage an established professional network to identify and attract top purchasing talent when future hiring needs arise.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, trade partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive purchasing strategies that support cost control, quality, schedule, and overall profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, systems, and efficiencies.
  • Partner closely with construction and operations leadership to ensure purchasing supports field execution and customer expectations.
  • Provide leadership, accountability, and coaching to team members while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Analyze purchasing performance and market conditions to support informed business decisions.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a strong, proven leader with significant experience in residential homebuilding purchasing and a demonstrated ability to build and lead teams.

We are especially interested in candidates who:

  • Significant purchasing experience within residential homebuilding.
  • Have a proven track record of leadership and team management.
  • Have successfully recruited, developed, and retained high-performing teams.
  • Are capable of recruiting future team members through established industry relationships.
  • Are currently located in Texas, with DFW-based candidates strongly preferred.
  • Have a stable, progressive career history demonstrating long-term commitment and professional growth.
  • Have consistently demonstrated increasing responsibility throughout their career.
  • Current VP of Purchasing
  • Understand the pace, complexity, and financial drivers of residential homebuilding purchasing.
