The Vice President, Investor Relations is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of Planet Fitness’ investor relations function, serving as a key steward of the company’s investment narrative and ensuring clear, consistent communication of its financial performance, strategic priorities and long-term value creation strategy. The VP, Investor Relations is responsible for enhancing the company’s engagement with the investment community and positioning Planet Fitness as a compelling long-term investment opportunity through proactive shareholder and analyst communication.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and President, International, the VP, Investor Relations works closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Finance and Communications leaders, providing strategic counsel, investor sentiment insights, and market intelligence that informs business decision-making and supports shareholder value creation.

This role serves as the primary liaison with the investment community, leading all investor communications, earnings processes, shareholder engagement activities, and capital markets initiatives. The VP partners cross functionally to ensure alignment of messaging and to support strategic initiatives, including investments, partnerships and M&A activity.

This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Boston, MA or Hampton, NH office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.


Investor Relations Strategy & Leadership

  • Defines and leads the company’s investor relations strategy, aligning external financial communications, shareholder engagement and market positioning with Planet Fitness’ business priorities and long-term value creation objectives.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to the CFO and President, International, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team regarding investor sentiment, analyst perspectives, valuation drivers, and external financial communications.
  • Develops and executes shareholder engagement and targeting strategies designed to enhance engagement with existing investors, expand institutional ownership, and attract prospective shareholders.
  • Evaluates investor feedback, analyst research, industry trends, shareholder activity, and market developments to provide actionable insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Establishes long-term investor relations objectives and engagement priorities that support shareholder value creation and the company's evolving business strategy.

Investor & Analyst Engagement

  • Serves as the company’s primary day-to-day contact with the investment community, including current and prospective shareholders, buy-side and sell-side analysts, and rating agencies.
  • Cultivates and maintains trusted relationships with investors and analysts to promote a clear understanding of Planet Fitness’ strategy, financial performance and long-term value creation opportunities.
  • Leads the planning and execution of investor meetings, conferences, non-deal roadshows, Investor Day events, and other shareholder engagement activities.
  • Partners with senior leadership to prepare for investor interactions, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent and aligned with company objectives.

Financial Communications & Reporting

  • Leads the development and execution of quarterly earnings communications, including earnings releases, executive remarks, investor presentations, Q&A preparation, and conference call coordination.
  • Effectively communicates financial performance, operational results, strategic priorities and long-term growth opportunities through investor presentations, earnings material SEC filings, website content, and other investor-facing communications.
  • Partners closely with Finance, Legal, and Communications teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all investor communications and disclosures.
  • Oversees the investor relations section of the corporate website and ensures the timely, accurate dissemination of financial information and investor resources.

Executive Partnership & Strategic Counsel

  • Works closely with the CFO and President, International, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team to shape and refine the company’s investment narrative, financial messaging and long-term value creation strategy.

  • Translates investor feedback, market intelligence, and shareholder perspectives into actionable recommendations that support executive decision-making and strategic priorities.

  • Supports executive preparation for earnings calls, investor conferences, Board presentations, and other external engagements.
  • Partners with Finance and Communications teams to ensure alignment between investor messaging, corporate communications and enterprise initiatives.

Market Intelligence & Shareholder Insights

  • Monitors shareholder activity, analyst reports, ownership trends and broader market developments to assess investor sentiment and identify emerging themes relevant to the business.
  • Synthesizes investor feedback and market intelligence into actionable insights and recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Evaluates shareholder composition and engagement opportunities to support the company’s investor outreach and ownership objectives.
  • Provides ongoing analysis of valuation drivers, investor priorities and market dynamics to support informed business and communication strategies.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensures investor communications comply with all applicable regulatory and disclosure requirements, including SEC regulations, Regulation FD and public company reporting standards.
  • Partners with Legal and Finance teams for supporting disclosure processes, governance requirements, earnings-related compliance activities and public reporting obligations.
  • Supports Board of Directors communications and presentation materials related to investor relations, shareholder engagement, and market performance.

Leadership

  • Builds and evolves the Investor Relations function, establishing processes, operating cadence, and best practices to support execution and cross-functional alignment.
  • Oversees engagement with external investor relations agencies and partners to support earnings, investor communications, and capital markets initiatives.
  • Promotes a proactive, strategic, and service-oriented approach to investor engagement and communications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Communications, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, Equity Research, or related financial leadership roles
  • Proven experience serving as a primary liaison with investors, analysts, and the broader investment community within a publicly traded company environment
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, valuation methodologies, SEC regulations, Regulation FD requirements and public company disclosure practices
  • Experience developing and executing investor relations strategies that support shareholder engagement and long-term value creation
  • Experience partnering closely with C-suite executives and preparing leadership for investor-facing engagements
  • Experience interacting and communicating with Boards of Directors through presentations, reporting, and strategic updates
  • Experience within a franchise, consumer, retail, hospitality, or multi-location business model strongly preferred
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex financial and operational information clearly and effectively
  • Proven experience leading quarterly earnings processes, investor communications, presentations, and analyst engagement while effectively communicating business performance, financial strategy, and long-term growth opportunities
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and represent the company effectively with the investment community
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally

The salary for MA and NH-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below. This is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with a candidate’s professional experience, qualifications and internal equity.

Annual Base Salary Range: $230,000-$325,000

This role is also eligible to participate in an annual corporate bonus incentive program based on company financial and personal performance.
