THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a Corporate Vice President (CVP), Customer Engineering to lead the Customer Success function within the Data Center GPU (DCGPU) organization. This executive will serve as the primary engineering and operational partner for AMD's most strategic Instinct GPU accounts, owning the end-to-end customer experience from pre-sales engagement through production sustainment.

This role is central to AMD's strategic framework for managing Instinct GPU deployments across Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 enterprise and hyperscaler customers. The CVP will lead and scale the Customer Success Teams that serve as day-to-day engineering leads and primary technical partners to customers, ensuring AMD's Instinct product line is successfully deployed, validated, and operationalized at scale.

THE PERSON:

  • Prior experience at a hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, Google, Meta, Oracle) or AI infrastructure company in a customer-facing engineering leadership role.

  • Familiarity with large-scale Instinct/HPC cluster deployment and distributed AI training at scale.

  • Track record of influencing product roadmap strategy based on customer field learnings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Customer Engineering Leadership

Build, lead, and scale AMD's Account Success Teams (ASTs) as the engineering nerve center for Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 Instinct customer accounts. Own the organizational structure, talent pipeline, and engineering culture that drives successful customer outcomes across the Helios portfolio.

  1. End-to-End Customer Ownership

Serve as the senior engineering executive accountable for customer readiness, validation, deployment, onboarding, and long-term operations across AMD's largest Instinct accounts. Ensure seamless technical execution spanning hundreds of cross-functional dependencies from silicon to software to system.

  1. Control Tower Operations

Operate within the Helios Customer Control Tower model as a core Executive Owner, maintaining clear escalation paths, driving resource alignment across Platform, Software, and Engineering domains, and ensuring the Account Success Teams function with precision, ownership, and speed.

  1. Technical Depth and Customer Advocacy

Act as AMD's most senior technical face to strategic accounts. Engage directly with customer CTO, VP Engineering, and AI infrastructure leadership to resolve technical escalations, shape deployment architecture, and communicate AMD's Instinct product roadmap in the context of customer needs.

  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Governance

Align closely with AMD's Platform Engineering, Software (ROCm), Business Development, and Operations organizations to ensure the business, product, and engineering teams remain coordinated around customer commitments. Drive governance cadences, represent customer interests in product planning, and provide structured feedback to accelerate AMD's competitive position.

  1. Deployment Acceleration

Drive measurable acceleration of customer deployment timelines across Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 accounts. Define and track key engineering health metrics - validation cycle time, deployment readiness, sustainment SLAs - and establish operational dashboards and reporting to executive leadership.

  1. Talent and Organization Building

Recruit, develop, and retain world-class Customer Engineering talent. Build a high-performing organization capable of scaling alongside AMD's rapidly expanding Instinct GPU customer base. Foster a culture of technical excellence, customer obsession, and collaborative problem-solving.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior VP or CVP-level experience leading Customer Engineering, Field Engineering, or Solutions Engineering organizations at a major semiconductor, AI accelerator, or hyperscaler company.

  • Deep technical expertise in GPU architecture, HPC/AI workloads, large-scale data center deployment, and systems-level integration (hardware, firmware, software stack).

  • Demonstrated track record of executive-level engagement with hyperscaler, cloud, and enterprise customers on complex multi-quarter deployment programs.

  • Proven ability to build and scale Customer Engineering or Account Success organizations in a high-growth environment.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to drive alignment across engineering, product, sales, and operations at the executive level.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
