This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the most diverse and impactful technical businesses within WSP's Earth & Environment practice.

As Vice President, Ground Engineering, Laboratory & Materials Services, you will provide strategic leadership across geotechnical engineering, tailings engineering, geohazard services, materials engineering, laboratory operations, field services, construction quality assurance, and instrumentation and monitoring. Leading a team of more than 300 professionals across the Prairies and North, you will shape the future of critical infrastructure, mining, energy, transportation, industrial, and environmental projects while driving sustainable business growth and technical excellence across the region.

As a key member of the Earth & Environment Leadership Team, you will influence strategic direction, develop high-performing teams, strengthen client relationships, and position WSP as the partner of choice for complex ground engineering and materials solutions.


Your Impact

  • Lead the strategic growth and operational performance of WSP's Ground Engineering, Laboratory & Materials Services business across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

  • Drive profitable growth through strong client relationships, market expansion, innovative service offerings, and major pursuit leadership.

  • Champion technical excellence across geotechnical engineering, tailings, geohazards, laboratory services, materials engineering, field services, and construction quality programs.

  • Build and mentor high-performing leadership teams, fostering succession planning, employee engagement, and professional development.

  • Strengthen collaboration across Earth & Environment and broader WSP businesses to deliver integrated solutions for clients.

  • Lead operational excellence initiatives that improve safety, quality, utilization, efficiency, and profitability.

  • Influence major investments, business planning, and strategic decisions that support long-term regional growth.

  • Inspire a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across a geographically distributed workforce.


The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.

  • 15+ years of progressively senior leadership experience within consulting, engineering, laboratory services, mining, infrastructure, construction, or related industries.

  • Demonstrated success leading large multidisciplinary technical and operational teams across multiple locations.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing revenue, profitability, forecasting, budgeting, and investment planning.

  • Established executive-level relationships within mining, infrastructure, transportation, energy, industrial, or environmental sectors.

  • Proven ability to lead organizational growth, major pursuits, client development initiatives, and high-value project delivery.

  • Experience overseeing geotechnical, materials, laboratory, field services, or tailings operations is highly valued.

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is considered an asset.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, technical governance, quality, and operational excellence.
