Your Opportunity
The Vice President, Operations & Finance - U.S. & Canada leads financial performance, operational execution, governance oversight, and strategic alignment for the Subscription Services Division across the region.
This role holds full regional P&L accountability for Subscription Services and drives disciplined financial management, regulatory compliance, scalable operations, and strong commercial alignment in support of EIS's strategic objectives
The Vice President will operate in a hybrid model and lead a predominantly Birmingham, AL-based team (90%+), requiring consistent on-site engagement and leadership presence within the EIS Birmingham hub.
What You'll Do
Primary Responsibilities
Regional Financial & Business Leadership (U.S. and Canada)
  • Provide senior leadership for Subscription Services across the U.S. and Canada, setting direction, priorities, and performance expectations for the region.
  • Own operating income, margin performance, and working capital outcomes.
  • Lead pricing strategy, revenue growth initiatives, and gross margin optimization.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting, accounting integrity, and statutory compliance in coordination with the EIS VP of Accounting, Tax and Compliance and EBSCO Industries Accounting and Finance teams.
  • Ensure disciplined Accounts Receivable management and strong cash flow performance.
  • Drive cost efficiency, process optimization, and scalable operational execution.
  • Align regional operating plans with corporate financial and strategic objectives.

Corporate Governance & Compliance
  • Provide governance oversight across U.S. and Canadian legal entities, ensuring consistency, transparency, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure appropriate statutory compliance and regulatory alignment across jurisdictions.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Partner with EBSCO Industries Legal, Finance and Compliance functions to ensure consistency in governance and risk management standards.

Operational & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead a predominantly Birmingham, AL-based team, ensuring strong alignment, engagement, and execution across geographically distributed leadership.
  • Drive end-to-end operational strategy across Subscription Services, ensuring scalability, service excellence, and alignment with customer and publisher expectations.
  • Provide direct leadership to regional management teams.
  • Build and sustain a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative culture.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and leadership growth.
  • Reinforce EBSCO's core values and ethical standards.

Commercial & Market Leadership
  • Partner with U.S. and Canadian Sales leadership to drive profitable, sustainable revenue growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, publishers, and strategic stakeholders.
  • Monitor competitive, regulatory, and market developments affecting the region.
  • Contribute strategic insight to service enhancements and operational innovation initiatives.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, accounting, finance, or general management.
  • Experience leading or working with geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience in financial management, pricing strategy, margin optimization, and working capital management.
  • Understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and enterprise risk management.
  • Proven ability to align commercial strategy with operational execution.
  • Executive presence with the ability to build trusted relationships with customers, publishers, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Strong business and technology acumen with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Travel: Approximately 25%-50%; candidates based outside Birmingham, AL should expect more frequent travel to the EIS Birmingham hub
