Job Description Summary
The Clubs & Activities Assistant must be able to implement Clubs and Student Organizations policies and assist with enhancing the growth and development of all students by providing social, cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities for all students to engage with the campus and the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate student related activities and functions
  • Promote and support campus clubs and student organizations
  • Promote the creation and development of new campus clubs and organizations
  • Assist in orientation events for club advisors
  • Maintain accurate records of all club and organization activities (including budget requests and event proposals)
  • Promote and support campus civic engagement initiatives
  • Understand and implement voter registration laws and practices for the state of Michigan
  • Provide positive public relations and program promotion
  • Provide a friendly, upbeat and positive environment at all times
  • Understand emergency/evacuation procedures
  • Will serve as backup SAC Attendant on as-needed basis.

Special Instructions to Applicants
You must be enrolled at the College on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester); contact hours will not be used to meet the 6 credit hour minimum.
High-school students who are dual enrolled are eligible for student employment. You must also meet the credit hour requirement.
OR
You must be enrolled or continuing your education with a four-year College partner, on the campus of SMC, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the summer semester.
All student employees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for student employment.
