Business Development Manager, VFS Korea

Reporting to : Head of Sales & Marketing, Volvo Financial Services Korea

Purpose of the job

The business development manager is responsible for driving sustainable business growth and profitability across new and used vehicle and equipment segments by identifying new market opportunities, expanding customer reach, developing strategic partnerships, and increasing the penetration of financial products and services. Lead business development initiatives aligned with corporate objectives to strengthen market position, enhance customer value, and deliver long-term business performance. 

Key responsibilities
  • Execute the sales and marketing strategies for the sister Business Areas in alignment with the overall VFS commercial focus and strategic objectives
  • Drive sustainable business growth and increase product penetration across new and used vehicle and equipment segments.
  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities, customer segments, and strategic partnerships, and develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop and implement growth initiatives to expand market coverage, increase customer acquisition, and generate new business opportunities.
  • Develop competitive financing solutions and support the launch of new financial products, business models, and commercial programs in collaboration with Credit, Risk, Operations, and Sales teams.
  • Maximize business growth with a strong focus on profitability, fee income, and portfolio quality, while promoting a high level of credit and risk awareness.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer intelligence to identify emerging opportunities and business trends.
  • Plan and execute marketing activities and campaigns to increase market awareness, generate leads, and support business growth.
  • Support strategic initiatives, transformation projects, and process improvement activities to enhance business effectiveness and customer experience.
  • Prepare business cases, sales forecasts, and management reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Education & Professional experience
  • University degree required preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Marketing.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with a proven track record in business development, product development, sales management, marekting, or strategic partnerships.
  • Strong experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, equipment finance, captive finance, or related industries with demonstrated success working closely with OEMs, dealer networks, distributors, and business partners.
  • Experience in a multinational environment and exposure to new and used vehicle/equipment businesses is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of financial products and services, including financing solutions for new and used vehicles, as well as equipment financing.
  • Strong business development skills, including market expansion, customer acquisition, product development, and strategic partnership management.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute marketing initiatives that enhance customer engagement, support business growth, and strengthen market presence.
  • Highly target-driven, self-motivated and willing to walk the extra miles
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills as well as holistic thinking
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact and influence at all levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to think 'outside the box' and anticipate future business trends and customer expectations and translate them into business opportunities
  • Ability to challenge and change existing processes so as to increase business efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity to assure of success of the team in Korea
