Atlanta Track Club is a nonprofit committed to creating an active and healthy Atlanta. Through running and walking, Atlanta Track Club motivates, inspires and engages the community to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. With more than 30,000 members, Atlanta Track Club is the second largest running organization in the United States. In addition to the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race – the largest 10K in the world, the Publix Atlanta Marathon, the PNC Atlanta 10 Miler and the Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, Atlanta Track Club directs more than 40 events and programs per year. Through the support of its members and volunteers, Atlanta Track Club also maintains a number of community initiatives including organizing and promoting its Kilometer Kids youth running program to metro Atlanta youth, honoring high school cross country and track and field athletes through Atlanta Track Club’s All-Metro Banquets as well as developing an elite group of Olympic level athletes on their athletic journeys.


Position Overview:

This full-time position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Volunteers & Event Experience and will be responsible for executing assigned responsibilities for all Atlanta Track events. The Volunteer Manager should have experience in group management, volunteerism, and preferably, but not required, the running industry. Additionally, this individual must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays. The key functions for this job are as follows:


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring logistics for all volunteer areas are accounted for and successfully executed for all races, which includes prepping, packing, and scouting for events.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of volunteer areas before, during and after any event or in-office volunteer opportunity.
  • Research and attend off-site recruitment opportunities throughout the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area.
  • Assist in distributing and managing community notifications
  • Recruit volunteers to meet goals for all Atlanta Track Club race events.
  • Welcome and engage with volunteers for in-office volunteer opportunities.
  • Manage groups of volunteers for the organization's major events, which include but are not limited to, Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race, Polar Opposite Peachtree, PNC Atlanta 10 Miler & 5K, Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K, Mile & Dash, and Atlanta Marathon Weekend
  • Assist in leading and distributing volunteers for all race events.
  • Assist in driving event logistics for small Atlanta Track Club events, such as: Crew Chief recruitment, event course parking and packing lists
  • Work cross-departmentally and externally to promote Atlanta Track Club volunteer opportunities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with current and future individuals, organizations, and corporations who volunteer with Atlanta Track Club
  • Assist in executing the planning and event operations of volunteer appreciation events, such as Volunteer Banquets, P3 Party, Crew Chief parties, and etc.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested
Requirements:
  • Volunteer experience
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to manage large groups of individuals
  • Required ability to work with individuals with a variety of personalities, backgrounds, and skill levels
