Packing Operator - 3rd Shift

Position Overview
OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. At OMG, we use safe machine operating processes, hand-packing techniques, and effective lean manufacturing principles to pack our products. This position routinely operates automated- and semi-automated machines to pack parts according to specifications and Kanban card requirements. The Packing Operator may also hand pack at times as product needs demand. The Packing Operator must be a team player and committed to delivering the best quality to our customers.
Position Responsibilities
  • Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
  • Set up the machine, observe machine operation, and ensure the product is packed according to specifications.
  • Adjust specified tooling and set packing speeds and feed rates.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections as required.
  • Observe all safety rules.
  • Assist other Packing Operators with the machine set up, and stacking, marking, packing, and transporting the packed product.
  • Maintain a neat and well-organized work area.
  • Ability to contribute as part of a team.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, quality specifications, and other related documents.
  • Good written and verbal communication, and basic math skills.
  • Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to contribute as part of a team.
  • Positive can-do attitude.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in high-noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.
  • Manual material handling involving the need to grip, squeeze, and pinch.
  • Ability to use a hard tined rake to move/break apart parts frequently.
  • The position requires the ability to regularly stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift/push/pull/carry up to 50
