Job description

Companionship Volunteers- Life Hospice, based out of Livingston, NJ, is looking for kind, compassionate volunteers to provide companionship to our patients. Patient and family support can include playing puzzles, reading to patients, playing card games, listening to or playing music, sharing a cup of tea or coffee, or just sitting quietly while the patient's family caregiver can take a break. Visits will be in the patient's home, whether that be a private home or a facility. We are also looking for Reiki practitioners, licensed massage therapists, and certified pet therapy volunteers.
VOLUNTEER DUTIES:
  • Providing companionship to patient/family
  • Reporting on patient/family status
  • Providing emotional support to patients/families
  • Life Hospice, in Livingston, NJ, is looking for volunteer help in our office!
  • Administrative duties may include coordinating mailing projects, assembling hospice packets, data entry, or making phone calls.
  • We also are looking for help developing special programs, such as Life Review projects, and Memorial services.

If providing patient services, submit Volunteer Visit Notes, which follow the Volunteer Plan of Care, per agency policy.
  • Submit time sheets per company policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality per agency policy.
  • Maintain open communication and report regularly to the Volunteer Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Understanding and supportive of hospice philosophy.
2. Compassionate person who is accepting and respectful of people's differences.
3. Must be a licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working condition if making patient visits.
4. The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
