Job description

Nexstar Media Inc. has an immediate opening for a Digital Host/News Producer who brings creativity and innovative thinking to the role. The Host/Producer will be responsible for newscasts airing on the duopoly "Sunrise on the Hill"in the Washington, DC Market #8 DMA, as well as the streaming show "Happening on the Hill", which airs on both DC News Now and The Hill's CTV channels, as well as dozens of other Nexstar streaming channels across the country. The Host/Producer will work with newsroom leadership, anchors, production team and field crews to create strong and well-paced newscasts. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the world of DC and DMV politics, and will ideally have a desire or experience to appear on-air. Candidate must have a proven track record that demonstrates ownership and appropriate showcasing of big story coverage, breaking news and weather.

Job Responsibilities

Writes and orders news stories

Works with executive producer, anchor, and other producers to construct daily newscasts

Edits video forTV and streaming newscasts

Edits and orders news content forstreaming newscast

  • Produces and operates hour-long, CTV streaming show
  • Work with segment producer to secure guests for interviews for TV and streaming newscasts


Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Minimum two years' experience in news operations
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility to work any shift

Compensation Range: $30 - $35 (hourly) based upon experience
