Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee: Organizer

The Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Caucus (SSDC) is the progressive political organization that supports the election and re-election of Democrats in the Wisconsin State Senate. The SSDC is the political arm of the Wisconsin Senate Democrats. It is overseen by Democratic Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein for the 2026 cycle.

Reports to: District-specific Campaigns Manager

Target start date: Monday, August 3rd, 2026

Classification: Full-time, in-person

Term: Limited term, through November 2026

Organizer Overview:

The Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee (SSDC) is seeking Organizers to coordinate the field programs of targeted State Senate Districts across Wisconsin, work directly with the candidates and campaign managers to ensure that all voter contact goals for the campaign are met. Organizers will serve as the manager of all direct voter contact (DVC) and volunteer recruitment actions for the campaign where they are assigned, and will coordinate with relevant partners to run an effective and efficient field program within various districts.

Organizer Responsibilities:

  • Engage and persuade targeted voters throughout the district to support SSDC candidates via canvassing and phone banking
  • Recruit, train and retain a consistent volunteer base to implement the SSDC field plan throughout the district
  • Plan, recruit for and run direct voter contact events such as canvasses, phone banks and GOTV.
  • Staff the assigned candidate as needed and work to ensure the candidate has achieved their individual donor goal.
  • Coordinate with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin's (DPW) coordinated field staff within the district, and provide the Campaign Manager with regular updates on relevant DPW direct voter contact and voter engagement events
  • Monitor candidate literature and yard sign quantities throughout the district, and distribute literature and yard signs to partner groups when appropriate
  • Staff assigned candidate as needed during direct voter contact
  • Utilize Votebuilder to cut direct voter contact lists, conduct volunteer recruitment, track volunteer involvement and enter campaign data quickly and accurately
  • Maintain and update direct voter contact trackers on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned by the district Campaign Manager, along with other duties assigned by SSDC leadership

Organizer Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Have previous involvement, volunteer or paid, with a Democratic campaign
  • Have strong relational organizing network in Wisconsin is desired but not required
  • Understand and demonstrate voter engagement and persuasion techniques.
  • Have previous experience and success with volunteer recruitment
  • Have impeccable personal organization and the ability to delegate tasks when appropriate
  • Understand and present effective training and management skills with staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver's license and a reliable mode of transportation
  • Experience with Votebuilder, Mobilize, NGP, and ActBlue is desired but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Know best practices for social media and be comfortable using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for campaign outreach
  • Be dedicated to anti-racist principles, diversity, equity and inclusion, and grassroots organizing

Organizer Compensation:

  • $5,000 monthly salary
  • Employer sponsored medical, dental and vision benefits
  • For medical insurance, SSDC offers 90% employee premium coverage, 30% dependent premium coverage
  • For dental and vision insurances, SSDC offers 99% employee premium coverage
  • Retirement benefits
