SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Production Associate works within the Upholstery Department setting up and running industrial sewing and embroidery machines. They will cut, sew, and install materials primarily on boats and furniture. They will be responsible for selecting suitable tools and materials, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring that all projects are completed to clients' specifications. Toi be successful they need to have a good eye for detail and keep a clean and tidy workspace. They will work closely with volunteers to learn from and teach in accomplishing their duties. This position is full-time, 40 hours a week, 8 hours shifts. The days of the week may be flexible.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: Sewing and Upholstery
  • Accurately use a tape measure
  • Operate hand tools including drill, driver, band saw, industrial sewing machines and pop riveter.
  • Review work order, observe specifications and any special notes and prepare work area to start the job.
  • Complete work orders as outlined and on schedule.
  • Responsible for the quality of each embellishment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
  • Maintains a neat and efficient working area.

Key Result Area #2: Administration and Customer Service
  • Engage customers listening to their wants and needs and providing creative advice to gain a clear understanding.
  • Accurately prepare estimates for time and materials to accomplish job.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Committed Christian and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ in accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith, and church attendance policy.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise gentleness and humility when communicating with staff, vendors and customers.
  • Able and willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, and accurately record information.
  • Good communication skills - written, verbal and instructional.
  • Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
  • Criminal and financial background check clearance - required.
