Position Summary
AVLF is seeking Legal Advocate to support AVLF’s involvement in the Atlanta Rising Legal Services Pilot, a **three-year homelessness prevention initiative funded in partnership with Partners for HOME and the Atlanta Continuum of Care. The initiative focuses on preventing displacement and promoting long-term housing stability for households at imminent risk of homelessness through legal advocacy, community engagement, supportive services, and strategic partnerships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct Client Support:
- Provide supportive services related to housing stability and legal assistance for households participating in the Atlanta Rising Legal Services Pilot.
- Work collaboratively with AVLF attorneys and legal staff to support clients experiencing housing-related legal issues that may impact their ability to maintain stable housing.
- Assist attorneys and legal staff with case preparation, document management, filings, scheduling, and follow-up communication with clients.
- Participate in service coordination efforts with Pilot providers, community partners, and AVLF staff to support cohesive and client-centered service delivery.
- Conduct client intake interviews and gather information related to housing instability, eviction matters, habitability concerns, and related legal issues.
- Assist clients with collecting, organizing, and submitting required documents, records, and supporting information for legal services and court-related matters.
- Educate clients on AVLF services, legal processes, court procedures, and available community resources related to housing stability.
- Maintain professional and compassionate communication with clients, community partners, courts, and service providers.
- Support outreach and community-based intake efforts as needed to increase access to legal services.
- Document client interactions, referrals, and supportive service activities in Salesforce, ClientTrack, and other required systems in accordance with AVLF policies and applicable funder requirements.
Team Collaboration:
- Participate in regular team meetings, case conferencing, trainings, and cross-functional collaboration efforts.
- Collaborate with attorneys, legal advocates, and external partners to help identify barriers to housing stability and support coordinated problem-solving for clients.
- Maintain regular communication with internal teams and community partners regarding client status updates, referrals, and service coordination.
- Assist with coverage and shared program responsibilities during high-volume periods, outreach events, or staff absences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Program Compliance and Reporting:
- Monitor assigned tasks and follow-up activities to help ensure timely client communication, document collection, and service coordination.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and handle sensitive records in accordance with organizational policies and legal services standards.
- Assist in identifying trends, service gaps, or recurring client needs and communicate concerns to program leadership.
- Review client files and documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to submission, referral, or case transfer.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working in a legal services environment, law office, or in a legal support/paralegal-type role preferred.
- Experience with database entry; Salesforce, ClientTrack, or similar systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage time effectively, and maintain confidentiality.

Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed remotely and in office environments, with travel to meetings, community sites, and client-related activities as needed. Work may involve a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking, prolonged sitting and/or standing, and occasional evening or weekend availability to support meetings, outreach activities, trainings, or client needs.
* Compensation: $55,000 per year
