Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Programmer/Analyst I (Junior) - Hybrid for a 3+ month contract to hire opportunity with a Regional Financial Institution located in Columbus, OH.
Compensation: $40.00-50.00 per hour, W2, based on experience and qualifications

Position Overview:
This role is ideal for an early-career software developer looking to grow their skills in enterprise application development. The successful candidate will have foundational experience with Java and Spring Boot development and a strong desire to learn modern application development practices within a collaborative team environment. This position offers hands-on experience with Java-based applications, APIs, databases, and Agile development methodologies while providing opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot
  • Design and implement scalable API services and microservices
  • Build and support API integrations across multiple systems and applications
  • Write efficient SQL queries, perform query optimization, and support database design
  • Work closely with architects on API design, data modeling, and backend solutions
  • Participate in CI/CD pipelines and follow DevOps best practices
  • Develop unit tests and support automated testing
  • Provide production support on a weekly basis, including issue resolution and monitoring
  • Maintain and enhance existing Java applications and APIs
Core Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
  • 1-3+ years of Java development experience with Spring Boot
  • Strong experience in REST API / Microservices development
  • Strong expertise in SQL (query optimization, data modeling, performance tuning)
  • Experience with relational databases (RDBMS)
  • Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines

Desired Skills:
  • 2+ years of Java/Spring Boot development experience
  • Exposure to API development and integration
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Understanding of Agile or Scrum development methodologies
  • Internship, co-op, or professional experience supporting enterprise applications
  • Experience with unit testing and debugging techniques
  • Familiarity with banking, financial services, or other regulated industries is a plus
  • Microsoft Office experience
