Job description

Interim HealthCare of West Michigan is a locally owned and operated leader in post-acute care services. We believe in giving of your time when time matters most. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our growing Hospice Division as Hospice Companion Volunteers. This is an unpaid volunteer position, but the impact you make is invaluable.

Your Volunteer Role:

  • Patient Engagement

Read to patients, lend a smile, listen to their life stories, share the joy of music, watch a favorite show, or play a card game.

  • Administrative Support

If you're more comfortable behind the scenes, volunteer opportunities are available at our Corporate Hospice office to assist with office tasks.

Our Personality:

  • Supportive Leadership: Leadership is always available to confer, consult, and advise.
  • Open Communication: We encourage you to speak professionally and freely.
  • Valued Members: As a volunteer, you are valued, seen, and heard.
  • Friendly Environment: We maintain a sense of humor and a positive outlook.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Complete the official application and background check form after being contacted.
  • Participate in an interview process.
  • Undergo initial volunteer training and orientation.
  • Spend time serving your assigned patient or fulfilling administrative duties.
  • Communicate consistently with your Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Document your activities in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Reliable transportation with a valid state driver's license and current car insurance.
  • Kind, compassionate, reliable, and emotionally composed.

Equal Opportunity Employer: Interim HealthCare is committed to equal employment opportunities. Each location is independently owned and operated.

Why Volunteer with Us:

  • Flexible Scheduling: Your time commitment is flexible, and any amount of time you can give is greatly appreciated.
  • Professional Growth: Gain valuable experience in healthcare and develop new skills.
  • Community Impact: Make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families during critical moments.
  • Join us in making a difference when it matters most. For more information or to start the application process, please apply here, or contact Kara Borke at 616-229-0004.
