Job Summary
There are two student research assistant positions with the UWG Center for Public History--Heart of Campus and the Remember Me--both projects will research and share UWG history using methodology and theory of public history. Student applicants may be considered for both projects but only hired for one position. Each student research assistant will work closely with the Assistant Director of the Center for Public History to gain real-world experience and training in public history by conducting primary and secondary research, planning and developing their project, and creating a public history product that shares university history with a public audience. Both positions are funded by the Office of Undergraduate Research and require public presentation of the project, such as the UWG Scholar's Day Undergraduate Research Conference in April 2027.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at UWG in a minimum of 6 credit hours
  • Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Must be an Undergraduate student with humanities or social sciences major or minor; or undergraduate student with an interest in history, museums, or public history.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
  • Utilize computer as primary method of work
  • Work on campus at least 2 days per week (open to discussion based on schedule)
  • Work at a desk station in office-like environment
  • Conduct primary research digitally and in archives
  • Work independently and with a small team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Student enrolled in embedded Public History Certificate program or History major or minor
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research
