Job description

Description The City of Paso Robles has a wide range of volunteer opportunities available to those who are interested in giving the gift of their time and expertise to our community. Volunteers are vital to our organization. Without their support, the City would be unable to offer the current level of quality or quantity of services to our wonderful residents and visitors of Paso Robles.

We are grateful to have had over 80 volunteers contribute almost 10,000 hours of service in 2022. Typical Duties Volunteering for the City of Paso Robles provides rewards to both our community and the volunteers themselves. Volunteers can enjoy the stunning scenery of Paso Robles, a unique variety of opportunities, the ability to gain valuable work experience and skills, and the satisfaction of making a meaningful difference in our community.

Below is a current list of volunteer opportunities available at the City. As opportunities may change, please check back often. Graffiti Removal The City's "zero tolerance" Graffiti Removal Program began in 1992 and strives to remove all graffiti within 48 hours of reporting, including graffiti found on private property with the property owner's permission.

Removal generally means painting over graffiti to match the existing base color as closely as possible. Our Graffiti Removal Program provides all needed training and supplies. To ensure the safety of these key members all volunteers work in teams.

The graffiti volunteers provide a critical service in keeping Paso Robles beautiful. Additional information can be found by contacting Maintenance Services at (805) 237-3873 or maintenance@prcity.com, or by visiting https://www.prcity.com/425/Graffiti-Removal. Library Since its inception in 1995, the Paso Robles City Library Volunteer Program has continued to grow and today is one of California's most innovative models of volunteerism in library service

Positions require an on-going weekly commitment of one day, 2 to 3 hours, a positive attitude, and a desire to help with library operations. Teen volunteers help with the reading incentive program each summer. With a variety of volunteer positions available, we can match you with an opportunity that will help us meet the community's information needs and bring you camaraderie, challenges, and fun.

Additional information can be found by contacting Library Services Coordinator Jill Beck at (805) 237-3870 or jbeck@prcity.com, or by visiting https://www.prcity.com/251/Volunteer. Police Community Volunteer Patrol Program (CVPP) members function first and foremost as the "eyes and ears" of the Paso Robles Police Department. Members patrol the city with CVPP's own marked, radio equipped patrol cars looking for anything which may need police attention: an open business door after hours, parked vehicle issues, traffic problems, etc

When something is observed, a radio call is made to the Dispatch Center where an officer is notified to take action. CVPP members conduct traffic and crowd control at special events such as parades, the California Mid-State Fair and downtown events. Other duties include vacation house watch checks, crime scene protection and traffic control at accident sites.

Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, willing to work at least 10 hours per month, attend a monthly meeting, and complete a minimum of 40 hours of training. Additional information can be found by contacting the Community Volunteer Patrol Program at (805) 227-7533 or CodeE@prcity.com, or by visiting https://www.prcity.com/327/Volunteer-Patrol-Program. Recreation, Senior Center, and Special Events We're pleased to announce that Recreation Services has a newly launched volunteer program

Whether you're interested in helping at community events (such as Concerts in the Park, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, etc.) or working in our parks, trails, and sports fields, we want to match you with opportunities that fit your skills while supporting our services

We'd love to have you involved. Additional information can be found by contacting Recreation Volunteer Coordinator Wyatt Lund at (805) 237-3990 or recservices@prcity.com, or by visiting https://www.prcity.com/1159/Recreation-Services-Volunteers. Employment Standards & Special Requirements To become a volunteer for City of Paso Robles, please apply online through our job opportunities website at www.governmentjobs.com

You may also complete the PDF application found on each program's individual website. Upon applying, you will be contacted by a City staff member or volunteer from the volunteer program you are interested in. Each volunteer undergoes an interview, background check, and fingerprinting with the Department of Justice before being appointed.

Once appointed, they can expect an initial and/or on-going training program. Selection Procedure & Application Process The City of Paso Robles provides equal opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
