POSITION PURPOSE:
This Associate Program Accountant position advances the mission of Lifesong through reviewing, analyzing, and consolidating monthly financial reports from multiple international nonprofit Ministry Partner locations, and monitoring their financial reporting processes and accuracy on financial policy compliance and nonprofit accounting standards.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Review, analyze, and consolidate monthly financial reports from multiple international nonprofit Ministry Partner locations
    • Review monthly financials submitted by ministry partner locations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational finance policies
    • Analyze financial statements and other reports including income statements, balance sheets, and general ledgers
    • Identify and effectively resolve any discrepancies, unusual variances, or reporting errors and work with supervisor to resolve them
    • Consolidate financial data for internal reporting
    • Assist with annual audits by gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests related to international finance operations
    • Maintain documentation of financial reviews performed each month      
  • Maintain Ministry Partner financial reporting processes and accuracy on financial policy compliance and nonprofit accounting standards
    • Cultivate effective relationships with assigned Ministry Partner finance/accounting staff with honest, respectful, and timely communication
    • Ensure timely submission of monthly financial reports from all ministry partner locations
    • Monitor adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and internal financial controls
    • Contribute to improvements in financial reporting systems, templates, and processes
 
REQUIRED SKILLS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or international organization.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and performing variance analysis
  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting preferred
  • Experience working with international teams or multi-location organizations is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Tasks are normally conducted in a regular office environment requiring the use of computer and mouse and other standard office equipment
Employees may be required to travel and have a valid driver’s license and passport
There are no specific job hazards, PPE, ergonomic concerns (beyond what was listed above), or transport of hazardous material
Employees may need to lift and move up to 35 lbs. on occasion
Employees are required to observe safety principles while performing the duties of the position
This has potential for a hybrid position: 4 days in office, 1 day work from home
