Job description

James Beard award winner Karen Akunowicz’s second South Boston restaurant Bar
Volpe, which was just recently awarded a Bib Gourmand designation by the
Michelin Guide in its inaugural year in the City of Boston, is searching for Line
Cooks to join their team. Salary starts at $20+ an hour inclusive of kitchen
appreciation and ongoing food and wine education.
Chef Akunowicz’s vibrant first restaurant Fox the Knife was named Best New
Restaurant in America by Food + Wine Magazine, and was a James Beard Finalist for
Best New restaurant in America. Bar Volpe pays homage to Southern Italy and houses
its own pasta shop and wood fired grill. The cuisine is traditional Italian with a
modern hand with a wine and beverage program to match.
Previous experience with Italian cuisine, appreciated but not necessary. 1 year of
kitchen experience is a must. Uncompromising work ethic and attention to detail and
cleanliness required.
You will work directly with Chef Akunowicz and Chef de cuisine Molly Dwyer daily
to create a warm and welcoming place to work and dine. Bar Volpe has a world class
pasta program and a focus on culinary education and the food, wine and culture of
Italy.
Eligible for Health and Dental benefits after 90 days of employment for those working
over 30 hours.

Job Requirements:
● At least one year of kitchen experience
● Meticulous attention to detail
● Proven experience as a line cook or in a similar role in a high-volume casual or
fine dining restaurant.
● Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
● Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced
environment.
● Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
● Ability to stand and/or walk for the entirety of an 8+hour shift, including the
ability to move safely over, sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
● Ability to lift and transport items more than 50 lbs. without assistance.
● Ability to confidently and reliably use email for communication
