To thrive as a VMware Sales Engineer, you need a strong background in IT infrastructure, virtualization concepts, and sales or pre-sales engineering, typically supported by a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency with VMware solutions (such as vSphere, NSX, and vSAN), relevant certifications (like VMware VCP), and CRM or sales enablement tools is essential.
