Datacenter Engineer (Wintel & VMWare)

Location: Sparks, NV

Duration: Fulltime

Job Description:

Skills Desired:

Strong expertise in Wintel administration (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO).

Advanced hands-on experience with VMware administration (ESXi, vCenter, VM lifecycle management).

Proven expert-level troubleshooting skills, including packet-level analysis using Wireshark or equivalent tools.

Strong experience in engaging and troubleshooting, production critical P1 issues.

Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, or similar enterprise solutions.

Solid understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, RAID, LUN management, performance tuning).

Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls) to support end-to-end troubleshooting.

Experience working in 24x7 production environments with strict SLA requirements.

Responsibilities:

Administer, support, and optimize Windows (Wintel) server environments across physical and virtual platforms.

Manage and maintain VMware infrastructure (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN), including VM provisioning, performance tuning, and capacity management.

Perform advanced troubleshooting of infrastructure and application connectivity issues using packet capture and analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump).

Support and manage enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, including backup validation and restore testing.

Work with storage platforms (SAN/NAS) to troubleshoot performance, latency, and capacity-related issues.

Participate in and technically drive Major Incident (P1) calls, collaborating with cross-functional teams to restore services.

Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and preventive controls across datacenter services.

Support change, patching, upgrade, and DR activities following ITIL best practices.

Should be able to lead and drive technically the operational issues on his own in a high-pressure environment engaging multiple stakeholders during live troubleshooting.

Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.

Resourceful, with the ability to work independently.

Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
