Job description

Job Title: Security Service Technician

Location: Fort Myers, FL

Compensation: Hourly opportunity based on experience and skillset
Job Type: Long-term contract with possible extension or hire directly 


Job Overview:


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Security Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise-level access control and video surveillance systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Genetec Security Center, Avigilon Control Center (ACC), IP-based security systems, and network infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:


System Service & Configuration

* Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade:

* Genetec Security Center (Synergis/Omnicast)

* Avigilon Control Center (ACC)

* Perform system commissioning, testing, and optimization.

* Configure system users, permissions, schedules, and integrations.


Access Control Management

* Program, install, and troubleshoot: Door controllers, Card reader, Electric lock, Inputs/outputs and related hardware

* Support badge access management and system diagnostics.


CCTV & VMS Maintenance

* Deploy, configure, and maintain: IP cameras, NVRs, Video 


Management Systems (VMS)

* Work with Axis, Avigilon, and similar camera platforms.

* Ensure camera functionality, recording retention, and video quality standards.


Technical Troubleshooting

* Diagnose and resolve: Hardware and software issues, network connectivity problems, low-voltage wiring issues, troubleshoot IP addressing, VLANs, PoE switches, and network communication.


Preventative Maintenance

* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.

* Perform firmware updates, software patches, and system health checks.

* Maintain documentation of service activities and configurations.


Coordination & Support

* Collaborate with IT departments for network integration and cybersecurity compliance.

* Provide technical support to security operations teams and end users.

* Assist with project installations, upgrades, and system expansions.


Required Qualifications & Skills:


* Minimum 3+ years of experience with Genetec Security Center, Avigilon Control Center (ACC) or similar VMS/access control systems such as Lenel or Milestone

* Strong understanding of: IP networking and TCP/IP, CCTV and camera technologies

* Low-voltage electrical systems

* Security hardware and integrations

* Experience with: VLANPoE switches

* Network troubleshooting

* Structured cabling

* Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation.

* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent communication and customer service abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:


* Genetec or Avigilon certifications preferred.

* Experience with enterprise security environments.

* Knowledge of Windows Server environments and virtualization is a plus.

* OSHA, lift, or low-voltage certifications are beneficial.
