About the Role

leLaw&Crime is seeking a skilled vMix Technical Director / Operator to support the technical execution of our live daily programming.


This role will play a critical part in delivering high-quality broadcasts across our digital and linear platforms. Working closely with producers, hosts, and production teams, you will manage live switching, graphics integration, remote feeds, playback elements, and technical troubleshooting in a fast-paced news environment.


The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with calm decision-making, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for live production.


Responsibilities

Live Production & Technical Direction

  • Execute live switching and technical direction for daily programming using vMix.
  • Manage multiple video sources including NDI, SRT, SDI, remote guests, trial feeds, and studio cameras.
  • Coordinate live playback of recorded segments, packages, and promotional elements.
  • Maintain smooth transitions and consistent production quality throughout broadcasts.


Graphics & Visual Presentation

  • Operate and integrate graphics systems such as Tagboard and similar platforms
  • Support the incorporation of real-time social content, breaking news assets, and interactive elements.
  • Collaborate with producers to ensure visual storytelling aligns with editorial goals.


Broadcast Operations

  • Monitor audio quality and transmission stability during live broadcasts.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in real time and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Manage feed changes and workflow adjustments during high-profile live coverage, breaking news, courtroom recesses, and evolving live events.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with producers, hosts, editors, and engineering teams to support daily programming.
  • Contribute ideas for workflow improvements and production efficiency.
  • Support both digital and linear broadcast initiatives as the organization continues to grow.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in live broadcast production, live event production, digital news, or a related environment
  • Strong experience operating vMix in a live production setting.
  • Working knowledge of NDI, SRT, RTMP, HLS, and related streaming technologies.
  • Familiarity with multi-camera production workflows and digital audio routing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform effectively under deadline pressure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Bitfocus Companion and Stream Deck integrations.
  • Experience managing remote contributors through vMix Call, SRT, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting news, sports, courtroom, or other live-event programming environments.
