Job description

Swim Instructor- Summer 2026

General Description:

The Altoona Campus is seeking safety-oriented and passionate individuals to join our team as Swim Instructors. Swim Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality swim instruction to students of all skill levels. The role of Swim Lessons Instructor includes ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment, following established lesson plans, promoting skill development, and creating a positive, engaging experience for all participants.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age by the date of hire.ย ย 
  • Must be able to safely enter and exit the pool and physically demonstrate swim techniques.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to reliably report to scheduled shifts.
  • Positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach swim lessons according to established curriculum and safety guidelines
  • Modify instruction to meet individual participant skill levels
  • Always maintain constant visual supervision of participants
  • Enforce pool rules and ensure a safe aquatic environment
  • Provide clear communication and feedback to parents/guardians regarding progress
  • Complete attendance tracking and basic lesson documentation
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of equipment before and after lessons
  • Respond appropriately and confidently in emergency situations
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions
  • Represent the Altoona Campus in a professional and positive manner

      • Session 3: July 6-17 Monday-Friday
      • Session 4: July 20-31 Monday-Friday
  • Hours:
    • Morning Sessions:
      • Mondayโ€“Friday 7:45am โ€“ 11:45am
    • Evening Sessions:
      • Mondays & Wednesdays 4:00pm-6:00pm
      • Mondayโ€“Friday 6:15pm โ€“ 7:45pm
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to demonstrate swim strokes and water safety skills
  • Ability to work in a warm, humid pool environment
  • Ability to enter and exit the pool repeatedly
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Training:
  • Mandatory pre-season training will be provided
  • Curriculum and safety training provided prior to first session
  • Ongoing mentoring and support throughout the summer
