Faculty Employment Opportunity

POSITION:

FULL TIME LECTURER IN THE SCHOOL OF NURSING: The School of Nursing invites applications for a temporary lecturer appointment. Candidates selected will teach 30 units each academic year in the School of Nursing. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a Masters of Science in Nursing and meet one of the BRN faculty approved areas (pediatrics, obstetrics, medical-surgical, psych-mental health, or geriatrics) for instruction, one year of instructional experience, and at least one year of direct patient care. The candidate must have a current and unobstructed California RN license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Provider Certification, and satisfactorily complete the CSU background check.

In addition to the minimum experience, the candidate should posses managerial, organizational, and strong interpersonal communication skills. The candidate should have technological and computer skills sufficient to participate and direct classroom and virtual learning activities with IT support.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate should have knowledge and skills related to teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation; and the ability to work with clinical partners and stakeholders for clinical placements. The preferred candidate would have instructional experience in simulation, two years of teaching experience and one year of leadership with oversight of faculty at the college level or nurses within an agency.

A current and unobstructed California RN license and BRN faculty approval in one of the areas (pediatrics, obstetrics, medical-surgical, psych-mental health, or geriatrics) for instruction.

COMPENSATION:

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.  As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE

 

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. Failure to consent to any background check will disqualify an applicant from further consideration.
